This is our 2026 shortlist of digital marketing agencies in Los Angeles. We grouped them by what they are actually strongest at, because "full-service" means something different at every agency. We list where each one is headquartered, because several agencies that rank for "Los Angeles digital marketing agency" are based elsewhere. We are an SEO and AI visibility agency, not a full-service one, so we appear here only in the search and AI section, with a link to our Los Angeles SEO agency page.
Hiring a digital marketing agency in Los Angeles usually means choosing between very different models: enterprise performance shops, AI-native growth agencies, single-channel specialists and social-first studios. This guide sorts the best-known options by what they're actually good at, so you can shortlist the right two or three.
The mistake worth avoiding is treating "digital marketing agency" as one category. A 700-person performance shop and a 25-person growth team are not competing for the same job, and comparing their proposals side by side tells you almost nothing. Work out which channel is your constraint first, then compare the agencies built for that channel.
One practical note on how we checked. Los Angeles attracts more remote agencies claiming a local address than almost any other metro, so we took each headquarters from the company's own contact page or schema markup rather than from a directory. Several entries below are in Woodland Hills, Playa Vista or El Segundo rather than the city core, one is in Canada, and two run fully remote teams behind an LA address. None of that is disqualifying for digital marketing work, but you should know it before you plan an in-person kickoff, so we name the real location every time.
Disclosure: we are on this list at number three, as an SEO and AI visibility specialist rather than a full-service agency. Nobody paid for placement, and where an agency's own claims did not hold up we say so in its entry.
How we chose
We looked for agencies with a real Los Angeles base, a clear area of strength, and public proof of their work through case studies, client lists or independent reviews. Three filters did most of the work:
Verified location
Headquarters taken from the agency's own contact page or schema markup, not from a directory listing, and published as found even when it is not Los Angeles.
A clear strength
Something specific each agency is better at than its competitors, whether that is performance media at scale, DTC growth, paid attribution, social or organic search.
Public proof
Named clients, published case studies or a substantial independent review record. Awards on their own site did not count.
Independent and active
Still trading under its own name with a working site. Two agencies that appear on most competing LA lists were cut: one no longer exists as a brand, and one currently has a compromised website.
TL;DR - the eight Los Angeles agencies and who each one fits
Quick comparison
Read the "best for" column first. In a market this varied, fit matters far more than rank, and the differences between these agencies are differences of model rather than quality.
| # | Agency | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Wpromote | Large brands that need full-funnel performance marketing |
| 2 | Brenton Way | Brands that want paid, social, search and PR from one team |
| 3 | The Business Rover | Companies that want SEO and AI search as their organic engine |
| 4 | HawkSEM | Paid media with auditable attribution |
| 5 | GR0 | Consumer and DTC performance marketing |
| 6 | Surge Marketing | Businesses focused on social, SEO and PPC |
| 7 | Social Media 55 | Social-first marketing, run from Canada |
| 8 | LikeSocialBiz | Brands that want web design, branding and social from one agency |
Notice how few of these agencies lead with organic search. Most LA full-service shops are strongest in paid media, social and creative, which reflects the city's consumer brand economy. If organic search and AI visibility are your priority, you are usually better off pairing a full-service agency with a specialist than hoping one team is excellent at both.
Brand and performance under one roof, at enterprise scale
Wpromote launched in 2001, is headquartered in El Segundo and is the largest agency on this list, with 500-plus people before it acquired the Cannes-winning creative shop Giant Spoon in November 2025. The combined business trades as Wpromote x Giant Spoon and runs past 700 people. Andrea Bendzick has been chief executive since November 2024, with founder Michael Mothner on the board. Its work spans paid, earned and owned media, creative, strategy, analytics and its Polaris IQ platform, and Intuit QuickBooks is among its published case studies.
The Giant Spoon deal is the thing to weigh. Buying a brand-creative shop into a performance agency is a bet that the two disciplines should be bought together, and if you need a campaign idea and the media to run it from the same room, that is now a genuine option in Los Angeles at a scale few others match. The flip side is the usual one with agencies this size: your account will be one of many, and the senior people in the pitch are not necessarily the ones doing the work. Note too that the private equity firm ZMC has held a stake since 2022, so the "independent" positioning is self-described rather than a fact about ownership.
Most of your digital marketing handled by one distributed team
Brenton Way was founded in 2017 by Jonathan Saeidian, who still runs it, and is headquartered in Woodland Hills with a second office in Westwood. It covers paid media, SEO, lifecycle email, social, digital PR and influencer work, and runs campaigns on its own platform, IcarusX, which it splits into creative testing, brand memory and client-facing reporting. It has recently repositioned as an AI-native growth marketing agency.
Two useful specifics before you shortlist. The headquarters is in the Valley rather than Los Angeles proper, which is still LA County but a different place to drive to. And the team is smaller than a full-service pitch usually implies, at somewhere under 30 people with staff distributed across nine countries, so the breadth comes from a wide bench rather than deep pods per channel. For a company that wants several channels coordinated by one small senior team, that trade is often the right one. They decline to publish pricing and scope everything custom.
Organic search and AI visibility, not full service
The Business Rover is an SEO and AI visibility agency rather than a full-service shop, and that focus is the point. Its in-house team of around 35 handles technical SEO, content, link building and generative engine optimization, and it tracks how brands appear in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews with its own platform, PromptRush. Clients include Picsart, Krisp, Sift and Aikido.
If you already have paid media and social working, adding them to a full-service retainer rarely improves them. The gap in most LA marketing teams is organic: a site that search engines and AI assistants can read, pages built for the searches that convert, and enough authority to compete. See their Los Angeles SEO services, or the GEO and AI search page if AI answers are where you are losing ground.
Why choose The Business Rover:
- Deliberately narrow scope: organic search and AI visibility, delivered in house rather than resold
- AI citation tracking across the major assistants included in every engagement
- Works alongside your existing paid, social and creative agencies instead of trying to replace them
Paid media first, with attribution built into the product
HawkSEM was founded in Los Angeles in 2006 by brothers Sam and Rambod Yadegar and leads with paid search and paid social, with SEO and content around them. Its proprietary platform, ConversionIQ, launched in 2022 and pulls Google Ads, Meta, Microsoft Ads, GA4 and HubSpot into one view so leads and revenue tie back to specific campaigns. It publishes its pricing tiers and works without long contracts.
If your problem is that you cannot tell which of your channels is actually producing revenue, this is the shape of agency that fixes it, because the reporting is the product rather than an afterthought. The honest caveat is scope: this is a performance marketing agency with SEO attached, not a full-service shop, so branding, production and organic social are not what you are buying. The Los Angeles address is where leadership sits; the 80-plus team is remote across more than 30 states.
Performance marketing for consumer and DTC brands
GR0 was founded in Los Angeles in 2020 by Kevin Miller and Jon Zacharias, is based in Playa Vista, and has grown from content-led SEO into full performance marketing for consumer and DTC brands: paid social, email and SMS, Amazon and marketplace, TikTok Shop, affiliate, programmatic and creative, plus one of the earlier dedicated GEO practices in the agency market.
For a DTC brand this breadth is usually the right purchase, because organic content and paid social genuinely feed each other and splitting them across vendors wastes the learning. Two things worth knowing: the SEO-first reputation predates the current offer, so ask who owns organic on your account, and the company has been acquiring. It bought the Amazon and retail media firm DLVRD in 2024, and in July 2026 announced a deal for Ultimate AI's deployment division to launch a separate GR0 AI business, which is still listed as pending.
Paid search, paid social and SEO in one place
Surge Marketing has run out of Playa Vista in Los Angeles since 2015. It covers paid search and paid social across Google, Meta, TikTok, Pinterest and YouTube, plus programmatic and display, alongside technical, on-page and local SEO, content and link building. Its homepage says it has worked with small businesses and Fortune 500 brands including Rakuten, Martha Stewart, the NFL, Dr. Schulze and Experian.
The client list is the interesting part, because that range is unusual: the same team selling to a local business and to a major brand usually means the process flexes, which cuts both ways. One clarification on the offer, since it is easy to misread: the social work here is paid social, not organic social media management. If you want someone posting and building community, that is a different purchase. This is a small team, so ask who runs the account day to day.
How to choose a digital marketing agency in Los Angeles
1. Decide which channels you actually need
A full-service agency is convenient but you may pay for channels you don't use. Specialists usually go deeper. The honest test: write down the two channels that would most change your revenue in the next year. If a full-service proposal spends most of its budget elsewhere, you are buying convenience rather than growth.
2. Ask for work in your industry
Proof that matches your business model matters more than awards. A DTC skincare case study tells you very little about whether an agency can generate B2B pipeline, and vice versa. Ask for two examples in your category and what happened to the numbers, including the one that did not go well.
3. Check who owns strategy
Ask who sets priorities month to month and how you'll be involved. In some agencies that person is the account manager relaying decisions; in others it is a channel lead you will actually speak to. Find out which, and find out how priorities change when a quarter goes badly.
4. Ask how they report
You want results tied to revenue or leads, not just impressions and clicks. Ask to see a real monthly report from another client with the names removed. You will learn more from five minutes with that document than from an hour of the pitch.
5. Ask about AI search
More buyers now discover brands through ChatGPT and AI Overviews. Your agency should have a view on it: which assistants they track, how they measure your share of mentions, and what they do when your competitors show up and you do not. "We're watching the space" is not a plan.
Full service or specialist? A practical way to decide
The question is not which model is better, it is where your capacity gap sits. Full-service agencies solve a coordination problem: too many vendors, not enough marketing staff to manage them. Specialists solve a depth problem: one channel matters disproportionately and nobody in-house can run it well.
In practice, the most common setup among mid-market LA companies we talk to is a hybrid. A full-service or performance agency handles paid media and creative, where volume and iteration speed matter most, and a specialist owns organic search and AI visibility, where depth and technical work matter most. It costs slightly more to manage and usually produces better results than asking one team to be excellent at everything.
Which type of digital marketing agency do you actually need?
If your problem is pipeline from search, you need an SEO agency, not a full-service one; our best SEO companies in Los Angeles list is the better starting point. If it is paid acquisition, look at the performance agencies above and our list of PPC agencies. If it is brand and creative, the web design agencies and PR agencies lists cover LA well. If competitors show up in ChatGPT answers and you do not, that is a GEO agency in Los Angeles problem.
If organic is the half you are missing, our Los Angeles SEO agency page sets out how we scope that work, and the GEO agency in Los Angeles page covers AI search specifically.
Already have paid and social covered?
Then the gap is usually organic. We run free audits that cover the technical state of your site, the keyword gap against your real LA competitors, and how often ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews name you today. You keep the findings either way.

Full-service retainers from established agencies typically start around $5,000 per month and go well past $25,000 for multi-channel programs. Single-channel specialists (SEO, paid, social) usually start between $2,500 and $5,000.
Not always. Full-service agencies simplify management and are the right call when your constraint is marketing capacity. Specialists, especially in SEO or paid search, often deliver more depth in their channel, which matters when one channel is your main growth lever.
Local matters for events, production and in-person strategy work. For SEO, paid media and content it matters much less than category experience and who does the work.
Yes, and many mid-market companies do. The common split is a performance or full-service agency on paid media and creative, plus a specialist on organic search and AI visibility. It takes a little more coordination and usually beats asking one team to be strong everywhere.
Paid media can be judged in a quarter. Organic search and brand work need six to twelve months before the results are meaningful. Be suspicious of a long lock-in on a paid-only engagement, and suspicious of a month-to-month promise on an SEO program.
Because agency roundups are rarely re-checked after they publish. Working through the usual names, we found one whose domain now redirects to a differently named company in Las Vegas after a merger, and one whose homepage is currently serving injected spam, which means nobody is maintaining the site. Neither belongs on a shortlist in 2026. If you are handed a list of LA agencies, it is worth loading each site before you spend time on outreach.
Social Media 55
socialmedia55.comSocial-first marketing for LA brands, run from Canada
Social Media 55 was established in 2014 and runs social media management and paid social, PPC, SEO and local SEO, web design and development, ecommerce, email, branding and influencer work. It markets actively to Los Angeles businesses and has a track record with them, and its team is around 60 people.
One thing to be straight about, because their marketing can read otherwise: this is a Canadian agency. Its own Los Angeles page says it services LA businesses "from our Canadian headquarters," and its contact page lists only Montreal and Toronto. There is no LA office. That is fine for social and paid work, which is location-agnostic, and their rates often reflect the Canadian cost base. It is not fine if you were buying local market knowledge or in-person production, so decide which of those you actually need before you call.
