Los Angeles has hundreds of agencies that sell SEO. A handful are genuinely good, and the right one depends on what you sell, who you sell to and how much of your marketing you want one partner to own.
We put this list together for companies comparing Los Angeles SEO companies in 2026. It covers generalists, specialists and agencies that now handle AI search visibility, which is quickly becoming part of the job.
Full disclosure before you read on: we are one of the agencies on this list, at number three. We have tried to describe every other entry the way its own site and clients describe it, and we have not taken money from anyone to be included.
How we chose
Real Los Angeles presence
Either headquarters in the metro or a significant LA team and client base. A single virtual address was not enough.
Clear specialization
"We do everything" was not enough on its own. Every agency here is demonstrably better at something specific.
Public proof
Case studies, named clients, or a strong review record on independent platforms rather than testimonials on their own homepage.
Readiness for AI search
Buyers now research in ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews, so we favored agencies that address it instead of pretending it is a fad.
TL;DR - the nine Los Angeles SEO companies and who each one fits
Quick comparison
Use this to narrow nine options down to two or three, then read the full entries for the ones that match your business model. Ranking order reflects breadth of fit for the LA market rather than a quality score, and there is no single winner across every category.
| # | Agency | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Coalition Technologies | Ecommerce brands that want SEO, PPC and web development in one team |
| 2 | HawkSEM | Companies that want SEO tied tightly to paid search performance |
| 3 | The Business Rover | B2B, SaaS and enterprise brands that need SEO plus AI visibility |
| 4 | Single Grain | Growth-stage SaaS and ecommerce, remote-first |
| 5 | GR0 | Consumer brands that want content-led SEO |
| 6 | SeedX | Businesses wanting SEO, content and web design together |
| 7 | LawRank | Law firms wanting a legal-only specialist |
| 8 | Canesta | Ecommerce stores on Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce or Magento |
| 9 | Website Depot | Small and mid-sized businesses on a tighter budget |
One pattern is worth pulling out of the table. Four of the nine agencies here lead with ecommerce or local service work, which is a fair reflection of the LA market: it is a DTC and professional services town before it is a software town. If you sell B2B software, your shortlist is shorter than the length of this list suggests.
Ecommerce SEO, PPC and web development inside one team
Coalition Technologies was founded in 2009 by Joel Gross and is headquartered in downtown Los Angeles, with a team of 250-plus specialists working largely remotely. Its model keeps SEO, PPC, web development and conversion work inside one team, and it is a Shopify Premier Partner, which makes it a frequent pick for ecommerce brands that want the store build and the search strategy handled together.
The unusual thing here is that they publish prices. Their SEO page lists average monthly figures by campaign type, from around $1,500 for neighbourhood local work up to roughly $3,100 for restricted industries, on month-to-month terms. That is rare enough in this market to be worth something on its own: you can size the engagement before you talk to anyone, and a month-to-month contract means the agency has to keep earning the retainer. Their review volume is genuinely large, though the "most-reviewed" claim you will see quoted traces back to a Manifest listing scoped to Los Angeles, not the whole country.
Performance marketing with attribution built into the product
HawkSEM was founded in Los Angeles in 2006 by brothers Sam and Rambod Yadegar and is best known for paid search. Its proprietary reporting platform, ConversionIQ, launched in 2022 and pulls Google Ads, Meta, Microsoft Ads, GA4 and HubSpot into one view so leads and sales tie back to specific keywords and campaigns. SEO sits alongside the paid work, which suits companies that want one partner optimizing both.
Attribution is the real product here, and it matters more than it sounds. Most agencies report on rankings and sessions because those are easy to pull; far fewer can tell you which keyword produced revenue. If your sales cycle runs through a CRM, an agency that already reads from it starts the argument about what is working from a better place. Two things to be clear-eyed about: the Los Angeles address is where leadership sits rather than a room full of staff, since the team of 80-plus is remote across 30-plus states, and ConversionIQ is a reporting layer rather than a ranking tool.
SEO and AI visibility run as one program
The Business Rover is an SEO and AI visibility agency with an in-house team of around 35 people across strategy, technical SEO, native English content and link building, including team members in the US. It works with LA clients remotely. Clients include Picsart, Krisp, Sift, Aikido and 5WPR.
What sets it apart is AI search. The team built its own AI citation tracking platform, PromptRush, which monitors how ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews mention a brand, and every engagement includes that tracking alongside traditional SEO. See their Los Angeles SEO services, or the GEO and AI search work specifically if AI visibility is the gap you are trying to close.
Why choose The Business Rover:
- AI citation tracking across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews included in every engagement, not sold as an upsell
- In-house delivery team rather than subcontracted content and links, so you know who writes your pages
- Technical SEO depth for modern stacks: JavaScript rendering, migrations and large-site crawl issues
Senior growth strategy for SaaS and ecommerce, bought and rebuilt
Single Grain dates to 2009, but the story worth knowing is that Eric Siu bought the struggling agency for $2 in 2014 and rebuilt it. He runs it today and co-hosts the Marketing School podcast with Neil Patel. Its services span SEO, AI search optimization, paid media and conversion work for growth-stage SaaS and ecommerce, and its own homepage names Amazon, Uber, Salesforce and Airbnb among the teams it has worked with.
Worth correcting a common assumption: this is not really a Los Angeles agency any more. The company describes itself as remote-first, and the only postal address published anywhere on its site is in Miami. The LA addresses you will find in directories are legacy records. None of that makes the work worse, but if you were shortlisting it because you wanted someone local to meet, that is not what you are buying. They also ship their own software now, including ClickFlow and Karrot.ai, so ask how much of the senior attention goes to clients.
Performance marketing built on an SEO foundation
GR0 was founded in Los Angeles in 2020 by Kevin Miller and Jon Zacharias and built its name on content-led SEO for consumer and DTC brands. It has since broadened well past that: paid social, email and SMS, Amazon and marketplace, TikTok Shop, affiliate and creative all sit on the homepage now, alongside one of the earlier dedicated GEO practices in the agency market.
If you are shortlisting them for the SEO reputation, know that the pitch has moved. That is not a criticism, and for a DTC brand the breadth is often exactly right, because organic content and paid social feed each other. But it does mean you should ask who specifically owns organic on your account rather than assuming the SEO-first team you read about in 2022 is what you get. They acquired the Amazon and retail media firm DLVRD in 2024, and in July 2026 announced an acquisition of Ultimate AI's deployment division to launch a separate GR0 AI business, which Crunchbase still lists as pending.
SEO, content and web design as one omnichannel program
SeedX was founded in 2016 by Jacqueline Basulto and Justin Rashidi and runs SEO, content marketing, web design and martech consulting as one omnichannel program. It publishes a Los Angeles service page and keeps an office in the city, and it works well for businesses that want search, content and website handled by one team rather than three vendors.
Be aware of where the centre of gravity is. SeedX publishes no headquarters address on its own site, the only phone number is an Austin area code, and every third-party record puts the head office in Texas with Los Angeles as a secondary location. For remote work that changes nothing. It matters if your reason for hiring locally was in-person strategy days, so ask which office your team would actually sit in.
SEO built only for law firms, run out of San Diego
LawRank was founded in 2013 by Mariano Rodriguez, a UCLA-trained lawyer, and Maria Monroy, and it does SEO for law firms and nothing else. Its own case studies include ranking Los Angeles firms for terms like "Los Angeles divorce lawyer," and the team of roughly 95 is about 80 per cent bilingual in Spanish, which matters in this market. It placed at number 1,828 on the 2026 Inc. 5000 with 189 per cent three-year growth.
A specialist earns its keep in legal, where competition is brutal and every page has to respect California's attorney advertising rules. One clarification, because directories obscure it: LawRank is headquartered in San Diego and lists only San Diego and New York on its own site. The Los Angeles address that circulates is a directory listing at a known virtual-office building. The LA results are real; the LA office is not. Judge them on the case studies rather than the pin on the map.
Ecommerce SEO plus store development across major platforms
Canesta, previously Digitawise, is a full-service web design and digital marketing agency headquartered on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles, operating since 2017, with additional staff in Seattle and Varna, Bulgaria. It builds on Shopify and Shopify Plus, BigCommerce, WooCommerce and Magento, and pairs that with SEO, PPC, Klaviyo email and branding.
Platform breadth is the differentiator here. Most ecommerce agencies are effectively Shopify shops, which is fine until you are on Magento or BigCommerce and every recommendation needs translating. If you are on a less fashionable platform, an agency that already works in it will save you months.
Local SEO and web design for small businesses, with prices published
Website Depot works out of an office on Sunset Boulevard in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles, was incorporated in May 2012 by founder Danny Star, and now lists satellite locations in seven other cities. It focuses on small and mid-sized businesses across SEO, web design and development, Google Ads, social media and reputation management.
The useful thing about Website Depot is that you can see the price before you call. They publish SEO packages from roughly $950 to $5,500 a month, with a six-month minimum, and broader digital marketing packages running from about $1,950 to $9,000. The six-month floor is honest rather than aggressive, because local SEO rarely shows its shape faster than that. Their own pages give conflicting headcounts, so do not read much into team size either way.
How to choose an SEO company in Los Angeles
Most bad agency decisions are not caused by picking a bad agency. They are caused by picking a good agency that was built for a different kind of business. Five checks separate the two.
1. Start with your business model
A personal injury firm, a Shopify brand and a SaaS company need different things. The firm needs map pack rankings and practice-area depth. The brand needs category pages, faceted navigation control and clean product templates. The SaaS company needs comparison and alternatives pages and a technical audit of a JavaScript front end. Pick an agency that already works with businesses like yours, and ask to see the work.
2. Ask what they'll do in the first 90 days
A good agency can tell you what it will audit, what it will fix first and what it expects to move. It can also tell you what it will not do yet and why. Vague answers about "building a strategy" are a warning sign, because a competent team already knows roughly what a site in your category needs before it opens a crawler.
3. Ask who does the work
Some agencies sell with senior people and hand the account to juniors or subcontractors. Ask who writes your content, who builds your links and who will be on the monthly call. Then ask whether those people are employees or freelancers. Neither answer is disqualifying, but the answer changes how much review time you should budget on your side.
4. Ask about AI search
If an agency can't explain how it measures your visibility in ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews, it's working with half the picture. Ask which assistants they track, how often they sample, and whether they can show you which sources the answers cite. A screenshot of one ChatGPT response is not measurement.
5. Be wary of guarantees
Nobody controls Google's rankings. Agencies that guarantee first-page results in a set time are usually cutting corners, or quietly guaranteeing a first-page ranking for a term nobody searches. Ask what the guarantee actually covers and you will usually find the answer.
How much does SEO cost in Los Angeles?
Pricing varies widely. Local businesses often pay a few thousand dollars a month or less, while competitive national or enterprise programs can run well above that. The price should follow the scope: how competitive your market is, how much content you need, and how much technical work your site requires.
The comparison that actually helps is not price against price, it is price against deliverables. Two agencies quoting the same retainer can be selling four articles a month and one technical sprint, or twelve articles and no technical work at all. Ask any agency to spell out what's included before comparing numbers, and ask specifically how many hours of technical and content work the retainer buys.
If you want a rough model before you talk to anyone, run your traffic and conversion numbers through our SEO ROI calculator. Knowing what a ranking is worth to you is the fastest way to work out what a retainer should cost.
Want to see where you stand before you hire anyone?
We run free audits that cover both halves of the picture: a technical and keyword gap review against your actual Los Angeles competitors, plus an AI visibility baseline showing how often ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews name you. You get the findings either way, whether or not you work with us.

It depends on your needs. Coalition Technologies and Canesta are strong for ecommerce, LawRank for law firms, HawkSEM for SEO tied to paid search, and The Business Rover for B2B and SaaS brands that also want AI visibility. Anyone who answers this question without asking what you sell is guessing.
Local presence helps with in-person meetings and local market knowledge. For most SEO work, the team's expertise matters more than their zip code. The exception is multi-location local SEO, where someone who knows the difference between how buyers search in Glendale and in Long Beach is genuinely useful.
Most businesses see meaningful movement in three to six months. Low-competition pages and technical fixes can move sooner, sometimes within weeks. Competitive metro-wide head terms in categories like legal or cosmetic dentistry take longer, because you are buying authority as well as optimization.
Some do and some don't, and the gap is wide. A few agencies on this list now track brand mentions across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews as a standard part of reporting. Others treat it as an add-on or ignore it. Ask which assistants they track and how often they sample before you assume it is covered.
Yes, but be realistic about scope. A smaller retainer buys local SEO maintenance, Google Business Profile work and a handful of pages a month. It does not buy the content volume and link acquisition needed to win competitive metro-wide terms. Agencies like Website Depot are built for that end of the market.
